New features, a small iPhone bug, and the Apple Curtain.

Today is the optional memorial of St Peter Chrysologus and it is also Friday of week 17 of the year. Universalis now gives you the ability to choose which of the two you want to celebrate. On the web pages, you do this by clicking on the appropriate link in the heading. The downloads offer you either a button next to the heading or a drop-down list at the top of the screen.

(You'll only see these options for Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and the Office of Readings: other hours take no account of the memorial).

If you're using the web pages, you don't need to do anything special.

If you're using the Windows, Windows Mobile, or Mac versions, please download the latest version of the software from http://www.universalis.com/n-download.htm.

If you're using the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch version, the App Store should automatically have offered you an update to version 1.43.

The Palm version does not have the optional memorial feature.

There is a small bug in version 1.43 on the iPhone (etc): the antiphon at Compline (Night Prayer) does not appear: "Keep us safe, Lord, while we are awake, and guard us as we sleep, so that we can keep watch with Christ and rest in peace". A corrected version, 1.44, has been submitted to Apple. Apple are being quite slow at the moment but we expect that the new version will appear in the App Store by the end of next week.

Apple's commercial policies have meant that the world of Universalis was divided into two by an "Apple Curtain". If you bought and installed an iPhone version, we could give you access to all the other download versions of Universalis, but it didn't work the other way round, so that if you had already bought a registration code for the other Universalis downloads you still had to pay Apple if you wanted to use Universalis on the iPhone as well.

We *think* that we may now have worked out a way round this. If you have a Universalis registration code, and you want to use use the Universalis application on the iPhone, please don't go directly to the App Store but contact us instead.

August is going to be a holiday month, so there will be no new features (or bugs). Thank you all for your support and your prayers.
